| Since its founding in mid-1995, the PPH Cure
Foundation has grown rapidly to become the world's largest
non-governmental funder of medical research into the causes of and
therapies for primary pulmonary hypertension. During the past twelve
months grants totalling $1.7 million have been awarded, and
approximately $500,000 has been disbursed. These grants have already
resulted in award-winning research, pioneering experiments, and the
formation of a new company focused on developing improved medicines
for PPH. |

| Who is the PPH Cure Foundation?
|
| |
| The foundation is a private, well-endowed 501c(3) tax-exempt organization. It is a private Foundation because the vast majority of its funding to date has come from Bina Aspen and Martine Rothblatt, each of whom are principally involved in the management of the Foundation. However, the Foundation is seeking receiving substantial tax-exempt contributions from others insofar as this would allow a much greater amount of medical research on PPH to be accomplished.
|
| |
| The Foundation believes that there are approximately 20 research centers in the U.S. and Europe with promising, well-documented hypotheses concerning the causes of and potential cures for PPH. The support of these research centers is essential to continued progress in the battle to manage, and eventually cure, PPH. However, research results must be turned into clinically-tested government-approved pharmaceuticals. Hence, the Foundation is also supporting an "orphan" drug development effort focused specifically on PPH.
